Instead of a
#christmasparty
how about a New Year party! Managers met with Nurses annually on 1st Jan; a tradition started in 1868. Not sure if it was mandatory nor if it was much fun😂 In 1923, the nurses' choir sang & the Lord Provost attended.

We are 231! Wonderful things have happened inside our walls. Things which have shaped healthcare throughout the world. We gave the world antisepsis, nurse training & more. Today, pioneering work continues & inside there is a sense of team, of community & of pride, even when times are tough.

'Tis the season! “One Night Cough Syrup” from the 1930s, which contained cannabis, morphine, chloroform, and alcohol! In 1934, the FDA ruled that the claims of the cough syrup's therapeutic properties were misleading, and remaining stock was destroyed.

set-up specialist burns treatment in 1833. It had a vital role in treatment of burn injuries sustained in Glasgow's industrial revolution. One treatment was Carron oil (lime water/linseed oil mix) developed at the Iron Works. Now used as a supplement for horses!
