👎 Just three in ten (29%) of the public say that Labour's plan for the economy is working, compared to 43% who say their plan is not working. After march's spring budget, one in four (24%) said the Conservatives' plan for the economy was working, with six in ten (60%) saying it was not.

Interestingly, the biggest ‘winners’ of this budget in terms of who benefits are seen as young people (47%) and low earners (63%). The ‘losers’ are public transport users (despite them being more likely to be young and low earning) and business owners. bsky.app/profile/sava...

Two thirds (64%) say the budget won't be enough to tackle the cost of living - but this is a significant improvement on this metric from the Conservative Budget in March (74%).

As we tend to see, most measures are broadly popular – particularly NHS spending & min wage rise. However, the major exception is the single bus fare cap increase, which has big opposition. While, views of changes to employer’s NI contributions are mixed. bsky.app/profile/sava...

The overall headline is that the package is broadly popular with 41% support outweighing 27% opposition. However, this is pretty typical, with the Conservatives' budget in March (before they suffered a historic defeat) receiving 42% support (22% opposition).

Increased spending in the NHS (71%) and raising the national minimum wage (69%) are the most popular measures in the budget, among many liked by public. The outlier is bus fare cap, with over half (52%) of the public opposing.

Some analysis from me of @savanta.bsky.social’s snap poll of public response to budget. To start with - a reminder that snap polls give a quick reaction to events, and while they are useful for getting the initial response, assessments of budgets can change as announcements are absorbed.
