As head gardener in Glasgow’s Queen’s Park, John McArthur took serious pride in his work. He and his team were all qualified gardeners, trained on a council apprenticeship that was,“the best in Britain at the time”. Two decades later & his Queen’s Park squad is gone. Council cuts have hit hard.
