With my phone directly in front of me I say "Hey Siri, 90 minute timer" and the HomePod two rooms away sets a timer. I want the timer on my phone, so I say "Hey Siri, cancel my timer" and my phone says "There are no timers to cancel" while the HomePod ignores me. How's your day going? 😂

Talking of non-Safari browsers, I have an odd problem that I can’t get to the bottom of. Some app is quietly launching Safari on my Mac and I can’t figure out which one it is. I spot it open in the App Switcher and I'm 100% sure it's not being launched by me.

I really love the Arc browser. It’s been my default for longer than any other Chromium-based browser, and the only browser to get me to leave Safari behind for any significant period of time.

I used OpenAI’s o1-preview model to generate some code for the first time this week. Once it had processed my initial prompt, I had some adjustments to my spec. I wrote them up as a bulleted list of about ten changes and processing the list hung the model for so long that it timed out.

I have some questions about the Discover feed. When I signed up I was asked to like posts to “Teach our algorithm what you like”. I’d love to know more details. * Are the likes _only_ for the Discover feed? * Is other engagement data used? Maybe, link/post/profile clicks or time spent viewing?

It's absolutely heart breaking to see software that I designed and helped build get abandoned and decay. Curated (curated.co) was built to make a product of the workflow I developed to send @iosdevweekly.com. It launched in August 2014, only three years after iOS Dev Weekly started.
