I will have a review but I need to step away from COLONY which opened this years #NYAFF. It's not so much that I think it's bad more its the least of Yeon Sang-ho's films and feels like some one copying his style while apeing Romero, and other outbreak films.

there is a problem with the film tonight in that once I got from the dark head space it creates I started to realize that the contrived nature of the plotting-its so deliberate in construction it has to reference turns that would have been best left un mentioned

SATO AND SATO at @japansociety.org's Japan Cuts is masterful. The course of 17 years in a relationship is one of the best at the fest. While full of real life drama it isn't fakely dramatic. It kicked me to the curb because I saw myself in it. An absolute must unseenfilms.net/2026/07/sato...
