I canāt even begin to describe how demoralizing it is to work not knowing when my next paycheck will be, only to see those who can actually do something about it take recess while getting paid and saying shit like āSee? You donāt even notice a shutdown because the govt is brokenā to constituents.

The modern baseball lasts an average of 2.5 pitches before being taken out of play forever. In the pitch-clock era, it's astronomically shorter than the shortest lifespan of anything in the animal kingdom.

There are a lot of NWS positions now posted on USAJobs. Come work with us! I guarantee you'll have a tough time finding public servants more passionate about the work they do.

This week Iāve been participating in a phased array radar testbed and Iāll say this: if this agency does ultimately choose to fully invest in PAR as the future of weather radar, that future is certainly bright.

Well this isnāt ideal, especially given the largest annual festival in Pittsburgh is starting today with storms possible and a heat index > 90F.

I was generally pleased with the responses I heard from Dr. Neil Jacobs today. With this administration and a Republican supermajority, he really was a best case scenario for NOAA Administrator these next few years.

Spent 13 hours at our county EOC today providing support to the EMA during the U.S. Open. From peeks of sun causing the WBGT to spike in the pre-storm environment to spectators waiting until rain has started to seek shelter when they could see it coming 20 mins in advance, it was a challenging day.

This was a super enjoyable build and I am pleasantly surprised by how durable it is for being so thin. Included a retractable nose and gear, and working flaps/rudder.

Tons of rain dumped on the Youghiogheny and Cheat basins yesterday, draining into the Monongahela flowing towards Pittsburgh. But thanks to USACE locks/dams along the Mon, water only rose a foot at The Point in downtown Pittsburgh. I don't know how this city survived the pre-locks and dams era.

Real Chicagoans know tavern style blows deep dish out of the water. And more appropriate for a communion wafer.

Thunderstorm outflow + sea breeze formed a sort of storm-scale ātriple pointā near Jacksonville. Kicked off a storm that anchored to it and rode south, doing some interesting stuff along the way.

Being in the east-northeast quadrant of a closed, vertically stacked upper low is fun. This little shower immediately developed a meso and turned right, moving NNE instead of NNW
