Today's painting is of a local bridge near Rothbury.... at the interestingly named Pauperhaugh. The River Coquet flows by on its meandering journey to the coast. #Northumberland

I've painted these three small paintings as a triptych- but they will all work as singles too. I love a misty autumnal wood, when the boundary between the mundane and fantastical seems as thin and wavering as the mist.

Just removed the furry hot water bottle cover for washing. The revealed bottle, totally covered in lines of text reminded me of The Rosetta Stone.... But it was all warnings about how to use said bottle. What a maverick I am- nearly 70 and I've never followed any of those "rules"!!! 😄

And in other news- thanks to @pottedhistory.bsky.social's kiln building habit, we have hundreds of photos of turf breaking holes in the ground.... all of which went on to become outdoor kilns. Trust me- one hole is very much like another!!! 🙄

I've been going through my archive of thousands of photos of the landscape this morning. And I found one I'd completely forgotten- me walking up to the world famous tree at "Sycamore Gap". I remember the walk well enough, but the photo is a pleasant surprise. It may have to become a small painting.

Still wet on the easel- so possibly still subject to change- a new puffin painting. This might be the last one in this current series. The autumnal feel to the days makes me feel that I now need to paint that.
