We commemorate and celebrate Emancipation Day. Here in Barbados, there will be a day of events to mark the past and to look to the present and the future. True emancipation is physical, mental, and spiritual, and we pray for the continued liberation from any form of slavery in our world.

A commentary piece from the Guardian points out, "The challenge for organisations that benefited directly from slavery, and colonial-era exploitation more broadly, is to ensure that their actions in the present are guided by awareness of the past." This is the response of the Church Commissioners.
