In Aus it's hard to know if you're going to get anyone coming for Halloween candy. Some years it's nothing and others you get multiple groups. I always stock up on my favorites, so it's win-win either way. I'm expecting people this year since it's a Friday.

Not doing cons anymore these days due to health but when I did back in the day, I went all out. Here's a trailer I did in the style of the "In Search of..." intro. I put a lot of effort into matching the original even filing my own dry ice for the mist.

Oh look Adobe is pushing out the big new 2027 updates to the "Creative" Cloud line. Some nice new features for Illustrator and In Design, cool. What's Photoshop getting? More AI slop. That's it, I'm just calling it Photoslop from now on.

A bunch of character sprites that eventually ended up in Zombie Wars, the remake/sequel to Halloween Harry/Alien Carnage. I used to love spending my spare time just designing lines of characters in Dpaint. God, I miss working in Dpaint.

Grabbed the new Katamari off Steam today. Way too many cutscenes, far too Much King of the Cosmos. The actual game part is heaps of fun but other stuff is super annoying compared to previous games.

Feeling pretty worn out this week. It's been pretty warm and I've been putting in long hours working on Gunwale and also trying to learn my way around a new WordPress theme (which is exactly the same as banging my head into a brick wall, but with less progress) I'll get there.

Spring (baby summer) isn't so bad around here. The Jacarandas are blooming and the dropped flowers haven't turned to a slick, decomposed mush yet. Sure, they're not native but they're the closest thing to an actual seasonal marker we get here.

Finally getting around to updating my website after too many years. Moving over to WordPress since Adobe dropped Muse (which wasn't perfect but did the job). Spent all night just messing around with getting all the plugins up to date and working. I hate it, but at least I can actually start now.

It's already at that point inthe year where I start my day before 6:30 to take Mickey for a walk before it gets too hot. When Summer hits full on we'll be out just after dawn. I really should head down to the park early one day to maybe see the wallabies.

Took a break from the detailed background stuff today to take yet another crack at the interiors. Previous version was isometric and just felt very technical drawing vs the more cosy feel I was after. Experimenting with some simple 3D shapes and sprite stacks. I like the new feel, so far.

Thankfully, that storm was a bit of a non-event. Mickey was getting anxious with that early non-stop thunder but I gave him a treat and that distracted him enough to calm down.

First big storm of the season on the way. The rolling thunder has been going on nonstop for about 10 mins and it's still ages away. (I'm about 1/2 way between Sunnybank and Logan) Gotta love living in the sub-tropics.
