Vancouverās Integrity Commissioner has found Mayor Ken Sim and ABC councillors broke the code of conduct on multiple occasions for coordinating amendments to controversial motions in separate private online conversations ahead of public council meetings

Truly disappointed to see the Park Board indefinitely shelving the Trout Lake Dog Park Renewal and Jonathan Rogers Park Renewal in favour of renewing a VSB turf field that has 5+ years of life left.

Vancouverites have overwhelmingly rejected the direction of ABC. Both successful candidates campaigned against abolishing the elected Park Board.

If by-election candidates canāt attend debates because they canāt āfit them intoā their calendars, how can they expect to meet the challenges and time expectations of being a City Councillor? Is Ken Simās 33% attendance record even too much for them??

If ABC cared about integrity they would have already moved to implement the recommended changes in this report (and those the IC herself recommended in her annual reports). Instead it is clear that this review was a guise to halt the IC and the investigation into the Mayor/Mayor's office.

2023 was the most stressful year of my life. The immense pressure from the party to break rules and vote against my values, or "face discipline", nearly broke me. Oh and I was pregnant. I'll never forgive Ken or ABC for how they treated me.

Given all we face as a city, we need to come together, not block out the voices we donāt want to hear.Ā Today, Mayor Ken Sim has abandoned the core principles that brought me to ABC. Afforadbility has not improved, property taxes are up, and Vancouverites have had enough.

I applaud
@rebeccaleebligh.bsky.social
for standing up for what's right and speaking out, even when it's difficult. The priority of the City and it's people are above that of your party.

This is how you go about making changes if you aren't happy with the governance. Not boycotting the meetings and blaming everyone else.

Plot twist: Since elected two years ago, Mayor Sim has barely attended Metro meetings in the first place - despite campaigning on Kennedy Stewartās absenteeism, Simās attendance record has been far worse. Newfound concern for accountability seems opportunistic at best.

A year of broken trust has left the embattled park board shorthanded

Seems fitting for my first post to be a copy over from the old place. Ken Sim and ABC have raised taxes 26% over 3 years...more than any other mayor in Vancouver history. And he is supposed to be a fiscal conservative?
