We know it’s not Black and brown communities who are to blame. It’s the racist authoritarians running this country to keep it divided for their billionaire buddies. As Anne Braden wrote, “There is only one basis on which real fascism could come to the United States, and that basis is racism.”

To white people who care about democracy, we have to be talking about strategic racism when we’re talking about fighting Trump. It’s our role to turn back to white communities and have real conversations around race and what we actually need to have dignified lives.
