Celebrated a month in the Norfolk Brecks following our move from Oxfordshire by finding 7 Woodlark a ten minute walk from home, and finally saw the Marsh Tit which I'd heard a couple of times.

A year ago I was watching Black-winged Kites in the heat of Nairobi National Park. This morning the same species in the freezing cold of Norfolk. Fair to say the Nairobi bird showed better 😂

My number one target at Shark Bay was the Western Grasswren and the car park at Monkey Mia came up trumps. Not as skulky as I was expecting thankfully!

Weekend was less fruitful than hoped. The skulky Barred Warbler at Sammy's Point being the highlight. Finally connecting at the third attempt.

Beautiful Red-necked Avocet on Rottnest Island. A somewhat misnamed bird I feel...Chestnut-headed Avocet would be more accurate as the colour isn't really red or confined to the neck!

The Savi's Warbler at

put on a good show first thing. Reeling almost constantly when I was there between 5 and 6.30 and showing well if distantly.

After starting out somewhat distant the Spotted Sandpiper at Chew did the decent thing and put on a close show for it's crowd of spectators.

A rare lifer in the UK. The Hudsonian Godwit at Titchfield Haven completing the Godwit set for me. My second nearctic wader lifer at this site following the Greater Yellowlegs nearly exactly ten years ago.

An incredible week in Kenya with Cisticola Tours recording 322 species in 7 days. We started at Nairobi National Park. Cape and Ruppell's Robin-Chats, Spotted Morning Thrush and White-browed Scrub-Robin got us off to a good start

I'm used to Yellow-browed Warblers being buggers to photograph but not usually due to being in long-grass. The wintering bird at Frampton thinks it's a Pipit!

What I enjoy most about patch watching is that when I get a new bird it feels like a lifer no matter how common. This Stonechat at Dix this morning was my first there. Hopefully it will stay and brighten up my winter walks
