I went to the Hands Off protest in Las Cruces. At least 1,000 people were there to rally and protect our Social Security, our public lands and our Constitution. I took an oath to protect and defend the US and NM constitutions, and I take that pretty damn seriously. I’m glad so many us do too. 👊🇺🇸🔥

Requiring transparency from lobbyists who help decide whether legislation passes or fails would be so good for our state. I urge you to contact the governor’s office at (505) 476-2200 or governor.state.nm.us/contact-the-governor and ask that she sign House Bill 143 into law. /1

As many of you have heard, there was a mass shooting at Young park in Las Cruces last night. It happened just after 10 p.m. while we were in the Roundhouse doing our work on the last night of the session. Three people are dead, including a 16-year-old boy, and 15 were injured. /1

Hello House District 53 and Southern NM! The session is about to end, and in 60 days we were able to accomplish a lot for New Mexico. I’m planning on organizing a couple of town halls to talk about issues more in-depth in the coming months.

I have the best news! The House “concurred” with the Senate last night on House bill 143! That means they agreed with a Senate amendment, and the bill now heads to the governor.

This morning the Senate Tax, Business and Transportation Committee approved my legislation to require lobbyists to tell you how they’re influencing what happens in your state capitol!

Friends! I wanted to let you know that my bill to require greater transparency from lobbyists passed its first committee today! The members of the House Government, Elections & Indian Affairs Committee who were present voted 5-0 to send House Bill 143 forward. /1

Hi! I wanted to share that I am working to update the state’s press shield law and a similar N.M. Supreme Court rule that protect journalists’ sources and communications. House Bill 153 proposes updates to the shield law to account for how reporting is done today. /1
