My biggest gripe with recent Romantasy is just how often the #worldbuilding undermines the story. Its not just thin or generic, but actively contradictory to the themes, plot or itself. Even in a non-worldbuilding focused book, it helps to worldbuild a little bit.

I'm just throwing weird ideas in a blender rn to come up with something extremely self indulgent to write myself out of this block.

Working retail, I regularly encounter people who I am genuinely baffled manage to operate in day to day life. Its horrifying to think they drive cars, use a stove, or raised children.

FYI, bots are more likely to have profiles that look "real" with pics (often stolen), description, etc. Not blank profiles. Those are almost always going to be lurkers.

Talking of the doppelganger trope, one of my other favourite serialized TV tropes is the "Historical episode where the main cast's actors all play different characters". So good.

Whatever happened to the "(Optionally evil) Doppelganger of the lead character" episode of sitcoms? It was a fun trope. Even better when Xena: Warrior Princess took it to its extreme.
