I just got a DM from someone that pirated my game. They said (paraphrasing) that with hindsight the game was absolutely worth the price, and were asking my preferred avenue for them to buy it (Steam vs Itch). I've gotten a lot of great DMs from players, but this one is probably my favorite.

Today, I put the finishing touches on what will be my 5th annual NES-style chiptune album, to be released one week from now. Making these albums has been a personal and primarily symbolic ritual for me. I am glad to close out the series with (what I feel to be) my strongest work yet.

Anna's description of how it feels to (not) exist outside of one's creations and activities caught me off guard... because to some extent this resonates with me greatly.

Got home yesterday and told myself I'd get through my to-do tasks after a short nap. The "nap" ended up being 7 hours long. 🫩 I did get through those tasks... albeit between 5am and 8am. Time to try and catch a couple hours' worth of winks.

Only a few days before I head home. I haven't finished a single track all month. I've had visibly suboptimal streaming conditions, almost no reliable undisturbed time, a sleep pattern in shambles, and no more than 4 hours of energy at a time. But the life stuff has progressed. More in November.

A regular streaming schedule has been unfeasible, so I am trying something new: putting two possible times on the schedule, setting alarms for both, and seeing which one I'm awake enough to stream at. If this ridiculous idea actually works, it may become the daily(ish) norm for the next 3 weeks.

Three decades away from my birthplace have made me an awkward foreigner. I am very fortunate that this place is friendly to foreigners.

I think this year's birthday album, if it happens, will be the last one. It would be a good number to end the series on. I don't intend to stop making music; I just want a more flexible release schedule than "once a year with 20 tracks every time," and I want to branch out into non-chiptune.

I recently made a new set of backgrounds for my streaming overlay (using #blender, which I've been slowly learning over the past 2+ years). I only got the idea for these eyeguys partway through the process. They saved the project by adding some much-needed focal points and personality.

Since apparently I'm now a person who posts photos of plushies (?!), here's the 30 cm Koffing I picked up in Taipei, next to the Sitting Cuties (Pokémon Fit) Koffing. It was pretty challenging to fit Doctor Koffingsburg in my luggage, but he's here now and can hang out with Professor Koffington.
