The whole nepo baby thing never fully made sense to me. I am engineer, my father is an engineer. I am I a nepo baby? Maybe, I guess. But it seems obvious to me that growing up around a certain profession will give access to resources and a nurturing environment starting very young.

The second invited talk is also about removing harmful behaviors from generative AI. There seems to be a generational gap in the understanding of this field where more junior researchers seem less concerned with real world impact and possible harm than senior researchers and faculty.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.
