This idea that the lack of empathy prevents us from seeing how we are the same reminded me of the passage of Kundera's Unbearable Lightness of Being which I'm rereading where the narrator says that only 1 / millionth a part of us is different (the section on infidelity!). #rachelcusktogether

I love Cusk's Second Place about an eccentric painter. It's more of a novel but has this kind of biography-questioning I find so soothing, even if it involves pain/hardship/meanness. #rachelcusktogether
