I haven't quite finished my #finishitfebruary project yet - I still have to finish basting the bottom hem and then sew all the basted edges and sew on the snaps to the yoke. But it'll be done in time for spring, and Partner can wear it throughout summer. #sewsky #garmentsewing

Accountability post: 4 weeks of walking before bed! I had to skip yesterday's walk due to it being a high pain day, so I did yoga instead. Mustache will start pestering me when it's time for exercise now. Between his encouragement and physical therapy, I'm in less pain and sleep easier. #catsky

Sock update! Heels are done, although I had to redo one of them 3 times - once for size, and twice before I realized I was accidentally adding yarn-overs as I turned on one side, leading to a very lopsided heel. Now, to decide on a design for the legs. #showmeyourknits #knitsky

Partner and I cut up a warn out wooden bed boxframe and mounted part of it to the wall over the window of the craft room. Mustache seems to appreciate the new high spot. #catsky

Parts for Partner's bra came in today. We decided to use this green satin that I had left over in my stash, so I ordered some ribbon and strap hardware from Bias Bespoke. I also got some trim that's pretty, even if the color isn't as close of a match as I would have liked. #sewsky

This is my reminder of what happens if I don't baste my shifty fabric BEFORE cutting it out. Fortunately, adjusting the armhole is mostly aestetic, and the back panel is elasticated, so moving the side seam more to the front should still work. #sewsky

Accountability post: My boys have started looking forward to exercise time with me in the evenings now. Week 3 of walking every night before bed. Having fuzzy company has been a great boost. I've also been getting in some decent stretches/yoga afterward that's been helping, too. #catsky

For #finishitfebruary, I've picked up working on Partner's tie-dyed summer top again. This rayon is beautiful, but by far the shiftiest fabric I've worked with, even after starching. My solution is to baste it to the lining fabric so that I can make sure the darts match. #sewsky

Did a fitting with Partner for their new bra, and they were surprised when I picked up my scissors and cut open the center front while they were wearing it. Pinned in some fabric scraps to get the correct size, but the cup size was perfect. Mock-ups are so helpful. #sewsky

Accountability Post: Week 2 of walking before bed. I noticed that the kits came to hang out with me, so I brought the rainbow string in with me to huge success. This week was rougher than last week, but I followed up yesterday's walk with dancing, so that felt good to do.

A benefit of my craftroom reorganization is that I now have a good spot for my walking pad, and tonight marks my first week of walking for 20 mins every day before bed. I've also had fuzzy company for most nights, which helps with the motivation. Im tired of being tired. Accountability posting!

I was just notified that someone on Fiverr is impersonating me to scam folks wanting #pixelart commissions. Tip offs: File formats offered were FBX, 3DS, MA, etc (3D file formats instead of PNG or GIF), claiming to be from Nigeria, and labeled as a "book promotor" Reported, but be wary of more!

Partner requested a bra with built-in bust improvers, and I finally feel confident in my pattern drafting and construction to pull it off. Hoping to help them find gender euphoria. #sewsky

Part of dealing with the aftermath of my last sewing project was a bit of furniture rearranging and a quick trip to Ikea so the crafting room is more open and inclusive of Partner and our shared hobby (painting and crafting miniatures). And bonus cat play area. Not done, but much better.

Spending the evening hand sewing, munching on cheetos, and rewatching Apothecary Diaries. My idea of a perfect night. Ps, chopsticks make a great way to prevent getting cheese powder on my sewing.

Machine stitching is finished! Now I just need to do a few hand sewing steps: tacking the facings, tacking in a waist tape, then closing up the lining and opening the interior side of the buttonholes, then adding the buttons! #sewsky

I know this material is 100% synthetic, but wow, is it satisfying to press. Those are some crisp folds. #sewsky

Both hip pockets completed, front facings sewn on center fronts, back peplum and armscyes hemmed, and right side front sewn together (still need pressing and clipping). Should be able to get it all in one piece tomorrow, then finish the rest of the hand sewing on the couch in the evenings. #sewsky

One hip pocket done! They're not big enough for my phone, but they're perfect for a fob and cards. Plus, my pants all fit my phone. The piping certainly made it a bit harder to press everything smoothly, but I love the results. #sewsky

Obsessively folded my pocket pieces over as I basted them in place this evening, making sure that im sewing the correct piece in the right place. I cannot sing the praises of basting enough. #sewsky

Yesterday's one task was sewing the contrast panels to the side panels. Today's was piping the welts for the pockets. Tomorrow is basting the welts onto the joined panels. This entire project is a practice in doing things in a very specific order. #sewsky

I told myself if I only got one thing done on my vest tonight, it would be adding canvas to the upper contrast panels. Did that AND piped both sides of both panels. My one task for tomorrow is sewing these panels to the side panels. #sewsky

As I'm pretty certain the bubbling i was getting on the bust seam was from having a straight grain front panel joined with a bias edge on the contrast panel, I made sure to cut the canvas for the reinforcement on the straight grain. That, along with the stay tape and piping, should fix it #sewsky

Not to be outdone by his siblings, Mustache has 0 reguard for today being my last day off before returning to work in the morning. It is pretty adorable that on nights I'm not in my craftroom, when I ask him to show me what he wants that he leads me in here to show that he wants snuggles. #catsky

Marked out my changes after my fitting. The biggest change is removing some fullness from the side of the peplum. Outer shoulder drops down 1cm, armscye widens by the same amount. Next step is to cut the front lining, then make a bunch of piping with what's leftover of this fabric. #sewsky

Basted together and fit checked! I love it so much. I need to take out some fullness in the side of the peplum, take up the outer shoulder a bit, and lower the armscye a cm, but omg, I love it so much. #sewsky

Prep work for the front panels is done! Now, I can baste all the panels together and check the fit one last time for any minor adjustments. The tailors tape was tedious, but with as many functions as it serves, it was 💯 necessary. #sewsky

Buttonholes are bound! I decided to only do a single fold for the welt since the holes are only 1/4in tall. Plus, now they coordinate with the single welt pockets. I'm really happy with how they've turned out. #sewsky ps, I love my little bamboo Ikea cutting board as a clapper.

Originally, I wasn't planning on adding batting/wadding into the shoulders, but as I was whipping tailors tape onto the edge of the hymo, I noticed how bulky the pocket welt was, so I decided to include a single layer with the area around the welt trimmed away so the thickness is more even. #sewsky

Pattern matched tiny welt pocket with piping! Basting and thread marking for the win. I had to do this as a first step so the pocket could live between the fabric and the canvas. Next step is to bind the buttonholes. #sewsky

Back is assembled and seams bound. I still need to bind the armscye and hem, but i need to cut more binding for that, which I'll do after I cut the lining for the front. I bound the seams as a sort of cross between a flat-fell and a Hong Kong finish, and I love how clean it looks #sewsky
