This is so very true. I know because it happened to me. Once an abuser loses control of the victim, they work overtime to get that control back. My abuse got worse after I walked away. But I needed to walk away. It was the only option. @drcocchiola.bsky.social

Abusers start Day One. They know what matters most to the protective parent and will use children as weapons. It’s time to recognize how a harmful person can show up as a decent human being.

We could end generations of trauma if we protected children from abusers - protection - even if the abuser is a parent.

I posted today an article about a victim speaking out. I wish we lived in a world where all victims could unite. The hurdles often seem insurmountable. My intent was not to offend anyone NOR to support an agenda that is oppressive. My intent - to highlight that a victim spoke out loud in Congress.

Things are shifting - we have to hope that all of us together will be able to protect our children from the reprehensible acts of the multitude of child predators.

Children of coercive control are not just witness of the abuse - they experience it within their bodies much like the adult victim does. It is an unacknowledged child abuse when a child cannot feel safe with a parent.

Children growing up in a family system w an abusive parent ARE suffering abuse. It is never the adult victim (protective parents) fault.
