"The Medellan Conspiracy" has two MCs. Ardyn is (hopefully) more relatable to the neurodivergent community (I know, how unoriginal, making the ND character an alien, but he reflects how I've always seen myself). Jevan is a dashing charmer, and I hope some readers also relate to him. #QueerPrompts

My MCs are binary, and it doesn't. When I began writing this series in 2015, I was unaware of non-binary people. That being said, I have always used the singular they/them when referring to unnamed background characters and there will be non-binary representation in a future novel. #QueerPrompts

The word "gender" appears nowhere in my manuscript. Even the concept of gender isn't discussed in the novel, as it's not relevant to the plot. There are also no clear gender roles, except females of either species must become pregnant if they want a child (is that even a gender role?) #QueerPrompts

My two MCs are both male. Ardyn was an Athla'naa ranger, and Jevan was a Medellan trader. If they were both female, they may have never met. In Ardyn's society, he would have been expected to have at least one child, and likely wouldn't have been a ranger or found the artifact. 1/2 #QueerPrompts

Well, Jevan and Ardyn aren't on Earth, so that's complicated. They leave their home planet at the end of "The Medellan Conspiracy," (not a spoiler, this was the plan since the end of "Artifact of the Dawn") so what better way than to attend their friends' pair-bonding ceremony? #QueerPrompts

Excluding a lot of factors, if the "world ended," and they were the only two left in the galaxy (they have friends with space warp travel, so they'd have to also be wiped out), Jevan and Ardyn would still survive as long as there are resources (edible animals, plants, clean water). 1/2 #QueerPrompts

In "The Medellan Conspiracy," no sexuality is frowned upon (we run into a secret society of xenophobes, but that's a different type of bigotry). I haven't yet explored gender, but it is something that will come into play in the later books of the series, somewhere in the subplot. #QueerPrompts

"The Medellan Conspiracy" makes use of Star Trek-style technology for the space-faring Athla'naa people. They have transporters, replicators, artificial gravity, and warp drives. I use those "technologies" as plot devices, and don't try to explain how they work anymore than Star Trek did.

Both Ardyn and Jevan are quite independent. Before the events of the first book in the series, Jevan was a trader, traveling from village to village and the occasional Athla'naa settlement, while Ardyn was a ranger, spending months alone in the forests around Maala'naa. #QueerPrompts
