Played another solo game of This Quar's War today, with my new (still WIP) terrain and three sections per side. In round one, Creevin's assault section moved into the woods while Easky's Autoped Patrol flanked and their Gun Squad took up overwatch atop the hill. (1/4) #tabletop #wargaming

Despite enjoying this hobby for decades, I'm pretty sure this is my first time making my own scatter terrain. Designed for 15 mm Quar but should work for other scales and games. I think it's going well—next I'll add smaller rocks, then grass and bushes. #tabletop #wargaming

Incredible artwork. I desperately need a first-person video game about daily life aboard a ship with this level of detail and character, carrying out some menial labor and filling my living space with stickers and trinkets. Like Hardspace: Shipbreaker, but almost exclusively on just one small ship.

Finally placed my order for my first 2 mm historical minis from Irregular Miniatures. Shipping was very costly, but I'll have armies for both sides of the Franco-Prussian War (for use with 2x2 Napoleonics), Gallia vs. the Empire (Valkyria Chronicles-themed O Group), and even a few extras. Excited!

Four more spaceships for the medical megacorp: recon frigate, destroyer, beam frigate (!), and corvette. Downsizing the cruiser design worked out well, though the corvette needed more adjustment to be small enough. Still not sure if these are drafts or "final", but it was a nice, quick fleet. #LEGO

Made some adjustments to the undersides of the medical megacorp spaceships, and added a third. This one is more of a light cruiser, with point defense turrets and swarm projectors. Getting kind of a Halo battle rifle vibe off this one and the carrier. Working on a frigate design now. #LEGO

Went to a Hollow Knight + Silksong concert by a string quartet. A lovely evening. ...But it would've been much better without the person behind me detailing the entire spoiler-filled plot of the games and talking during several songs to point out "oh, this is when <unexpected plot twist happens>" 🤬

March of Robots, no 4; Crown. Did this one as a robot head. The design was more crown like in my head but, as I drew it, it turned into teeth... Might try this one again, just to ensure that I don't get out of whatever backlog I have.

Been a while since I've made any spaceships, but Marathon has inspired me. So here's a pair of cruiser-class ships for my as-yet unnamed medical megacorporation. The first is a carrier, while the second has a massive spinal laser. An early draft; might change as I work on their smaller ships. #LEGO

Well, they did it. Marathon is utterly fantastic. They've managed an extraction shooter loop that just feels right, even for a decrepit coward such as myself. The emergent gameplay has me constantly looking forward to the next run even when risking my gear. Might upgrade to the deluxe edition soon.

Finished painting these 15 mm Quar. I need to do a bit of work on my previously painted models to match. Then I can finally add grass to all of the bases. Glad I took a short break from painting, as it made getting back to work on these much more fun. #quar #tabletop #wargaming #miniaturepainting

This was a quick inspirational painting using a #Homeworld 2 background by the legendary Rob Cunningham as a base and staging the new HW 3 style of missile frigates I was developing with Aaron Kambeitz.

Started painting my next batch of 15 mm Quar. I'm really pleased with how these Easky Autopeds are going. The edges and rivets are quick and easy to highlight, and adding the mud and oil is fun. They look great with the Pygaed light tractor. Crew to follow! #tabletop #wargaming #miniaturepainting

Still obsessing over Turnip28. Looking at kitbashing Wargames Atlantic's Halfling Militia, Napoleonic French Infantry, and Classic Fantasy Guards. Should give me enough for three Regiments: the Beekeepers of Bhir, Butcher Brigade, and Slug's Lament. Not sure I'm ready to spend the money, though. 😣

Having a dedicated gaming space is lovely, but now I'm overwhelmed with options. I'm painting up my next batch of Quar, but I also want to order 2 mm minis for the Franco-Prussian War and for Valkyria Chronicles O Group. And I've started looking into Turnip28 as well. Hard to pick what to focus on.

Tried out Silver Bayonet yesterday. I customized the Ruined Chapel scenario for my wife to play through using heroes and monsters from Darkest Dungeon. A hard-fought battle against cultists, skeletons, and an Esquire of the Crimson Court. Hope to play again with more monsters! #tabletop #wargaming

My second order of 15 mm Quar arrived yesterday. Absolutely fantastic models, from the diminutive pykpyks (squirrels) to the massive Ghrykyn and Ikyth tractors (APC & tank, respectively). This should bring both armies to a pretty comfortable level—lots of hobby work ahead. #tabletop #wargaming

Haven't felt motivated to work on any #LEGO lately (though I'm making progress on some other projects) but I ordered a new Gundam model kit and felt inspired. So here's a little mecha sketch for an idea that's still in early stages. Hopefully more about that later.

This might already exist, but I'd love a mecha game in the style of Carrier Command 2. Low-poly graphics, customizable units, strategic deployment, and tactical command, with the option for direct first-person control of any mecha at any time. And just like CC2 it'd be great for PVE or PVP.

I wanted a distinct is-Caerten to lead my Creevish Trench Watch Cavalry Section, so I sculpted a tufted feather for the hat, to match that found on the is-Caerten on foot. I then trimmed away the bow tie and replaced it with a necktie. Pretty pleased with my sculpting here. #tabletop #wargaming
