Day 30: Finale! I thought about just collecting all the builds I've made this month into a single render, but that seemed boring. So instead I made a variable-wing transport. Day 29: Drones. Tried a bunch of ideas on a day when I had too little time. But I'm very pleased with what I finally came up with. Zero Point uses this stealthy fighter-scale drone for both site security patrols and CAS; missiles are concealed within. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Day 28: Exploration. I started this for day 24, but it wasn't really capturing "test flight". So I put it aside, with just the hab ring and engines done, and finished it today. This was a fun one-off, not part of my setting or to any particular scale. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Day 27: Station. Here's a static defense post for the Khuraltan Navy, with four each of main guns and point defense turrets. The initial jellyfish-like concept came to mind quickly, but actually coming up with a good design was trickier than expected. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Got to meet James May yesterday and bought a (signed) bottle of his Asian Parsnip gin which is—I can now say from experience—very, very good. Looking forward to ordering American Mustard soon. I hope this tour has been worthwhile for these fine folks; it was certainly well-attended here.

Ooh, this game looks very interesting and atmospheric. There's a demo available on Steam—definitely gonna check it out.

Day 26: Superliminal. This took a heck of a lot of work; I'm amazed I got it done in time. I took the ship design from day 18 and created a stop-motion animation, rendered out frame by frame, of it arriving from FTL travel, then disappearing once more. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Day 25: Lasers. Started off by looking at what transparent parts are available. I wanted a long, prominent beam, but it's difficult to join bars end to end, so much of it wound up inside the ship. Sneak peek at my next build! BrickLink Studio has developed an annoying habit of occasionally, when I hit "undo", randomly rotating and moving most parts of a build. Thankfully I saved recently enough to have only lost a few small experimental changes, but seriously, what the heck is causing this?

Day 24: Test Flight. Struggled for ideas—shelved one for a later prompt, while another was too boring. But I'm glad I pushed through, because I love how this turned out. Exposed tubes and wires don't suit my setting, but I'd like to do more like this. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Day 23: Blue. Sometimes it's fun to see what parts are available in a given color and experiment—here I started with those large wedges near the aft. The design shifted from cephalopod to cetacean, and flipped front-to-back a few times in the process. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Day 22: Fire! This one started off with me trying to find a convincing gunfire effect. I put that on a turret that went unused as it was too big, and instead wound up making another mercenary/pirate ship that doubles as a ground attack aircraft. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Day 21: Junk. I still struggle with large-scale builds—this derelict probably needs more surface detail and some external components. But I'm very pleased with these cute little salvage ships. I think I captured the Hardspace: Shipbreaker vibe nicely. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Day 20: Ruins. Just about finished this in time—BrickLink Studio was fighting me the whole way, rotating parts at random when I hit undo. These aren't new ships, but wreck markers made out of some of my existing builds for Morningstar: Fleet Command. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Was stunned by the beautiful sky this morning when I went to the gym. Looking into it, it seems this was a conjunction with the moon, Venus, and the star Regulus. Lucky it was clear as well! 🤩

Lots of salmon are starting to arrive at the local hatchery. I love our fishy friends.

Day 19: Missiles. Wasn't happy with this, but I started removing parts from the middle and it became a good exercise in using negative space. Then I made an animation. Technically the front section can spin like a revolver but that seemed too silly. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Day 18: Ambush! Designed to match a mercenary company in Morningstar, I started on this ship for yesterday's prompt but opted for a meaner looking build. I normally prefer a tabletop presentation, but for once tried a scene with ships floating in space. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Day 17: Mercenary. Another fairly simple fighter-scale build. I wanted something sharp with wings that look like slashing weapons. I kept the size small to suggest affordability, and gave it a snake-inspired color scheme I've been using for pirates. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

What it's all about.

Day 16: Armor. I liked the idea of making alternate ships for House Ashtur inspired by beetles rather than fish. So I gave that another try, yielding the Scarab-class battleship. Not sure if I'll actually use it, though—might need a bit more work yet. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

One of PA's best short stories. I designed a build of Hanna a few years ago but the wedges in her hair weren't available in magenta. They still aren't, but now you can at least get them in dark pink—not a perfect color match, but at least she's buildable now. #LEGO

Day 15: Wingman. I'm fond of spaceships that can operate in vacuum or atmosphere. So I focused on the "wing" and made a fighter with functional variable-sweep wings. It's a nice shape in either form, though a larger scale might've given me more options. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Proposal: Taskmaster International, a once-a-year single-episode special featuring a mix of any former and new contestants that can be worked in. Imagine a cast with Danielle Walker, Guy Montgomery, Jack Septickeye Mike Birbiglia, and Stevie Martin. Maybe Jason Mantzoukas and Emma Holland hosting.

All three of these rank among the very best games I've ever played. Phenomenal storytelling in fantastic settings. Don't forget to pick up the soundtracks, too.

Day 14: Carrier. Really struggled with this one—busy day and no ideas. Eventually tried something inspired by the Khaaneph carrier in Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. Day 12: Docking. Kept it simpler today with a quick build inspired by some art in Frontier by @blackysan.bsky.social, then tacked on a shuttle. Day 11: Dropship. This took a lot more work than I wanted for a daily build, but I'm pleased with the results. It's scaled for Morningstar: Force Command, and carries an entire company of CASEs. Day 10: Convoy. While many of the larger warships I've made are capable of FTL spaceflight, most civilian ships rely on gate travel, inevitably leading to long queues. Day 09: Hunter. I've been playing Hollow Knight: Silksong in much of my free time, so here's Hornet as a spaceship. I featured her needle and tried to get the ruffled fabric of her cloak. Day 08: Spaceport. I've wanted more terrain and objectives for Morningstar: Fleet Command, so here's an EDSC space station. I see this as a sort of FOB for the fleet—minimal in accommodations, intended mostly for a quick rearm and maybe crew rotation. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Day 07: Green. Wasn't sure what to do here, so looked at insects for inspiration. Learned about this jewel beetle (B. aurulenta) that's native to the area and thought it'd fit in nicely with House Ashtur's fleet. Day 06: Tandem. I've been wanting to redesign some of my fighters, so here's a complete overhaul of the Harrier used by the Khuraltan Alliance for close air support and anti-ship roles. The WSO notably operates the gimbaled autocannon under the nose. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Day 05: Freighter. A quick build today, and totally not so I can get back to Silksong. This small tug can function as a pusher or puller, though the containers are arguably out of scale. Overall it fits in well with my Morningstar: Fleet Command ships. #LEGO #Shiptember #Spaceshiptember2025 #SST25

Since that flowery broad-shouldered robot I did, I've become obsessed with maroon/yellow against desaturated blue for colour-schemes; they're very pleasing colours. #shiptember
