Is there a mistake in Day 3 of the Task Master Advent Calendar? Or am I just missing something? 😅 Like, I think I know what the answer is, but it's just sliiiiightly off!

Fun fact: The curtain was made with a swatch that came with our new curtains. So the fisherman has the same curtains as us!

We're at the Athletics in London and engaging in the annual tradition of watching medals be award years after the fact because of cheating. Today was the men's 4x100 from 1997!!!!!!

It's 2 days before I leave for a re-enactment weekend. The perfect time to start a new project! Crazy, but if I can pull this off it means I'll be braving the 30 degree heat in linen instead of wool!

I love this cat toy I bodged together! My cat loves playing with my wool or thread when I'm working, so I crocheted her own spool of yarn! It's just a chain stitch, wrapped around the bobbin with some slip stitches to keep it from unravelling, and a tail left loose to chase!

I'm working on a pair of 17th Century stays. Last night I finished sewing the boning channels, next step is to fill them! I can't imagine doing all of this without a machine

Apologies for getting in touch with you this way, but I can't dm you! I really like your Reenactment/LH feed, but it only seems to go back a day or two. Is this just how feeds work? Or would you be able to make it go longer? I'd love to be able to browse it more!

This is my favourite thing that I've knitted! A cowl I knitted in the round over December, with a new motif for each day. I learnt so much making this and it's gorgeous!

Creative Craft Show March 2025
On Sunday I went to the Creative craft Show at Birmingham NEC for the first time! I went by myself an had a totally selfish day of doing exactly what I wanted, when I wanted. I was marvellous! I started off with the first of the two workshops I had pre-booked, Japanese book binding with Nicki from Daisy's 60 minute crafts…

I swore I would never calorie count again, and yet I am today to make sure I eat enough! I'm sick and lost my sense of taste and my appetite and I've barely eaten anything in the past 5 days. It's crazy how quickly my attitude to food changed once I lost my sense of taste

Before I switch brain back to 1535/6, here is my report on 1461 total immersion reenactment for everyone wondering how we got on. Firstly, we had absolutely horrible weather: storms, heavy rain, below zero temperatures, hardly any sun. This was BRILLIANT as it meant it was a proper test…

to the first time I followed a knitting pattern! This project was the free gift in a knitting magazine at the end of 2023. I finally learnt the purl stitch and some colourwork! There are mistakes in there that make me laugh, and I still don't know how I managed some! 😂

How do you count your rows? If I'm staying put at my desk, I use dice! I'm currently working on a 3 row repeat that I have to do 6 times, so I've got my d4 and my d6 keeping count!

A week ago, I posted here that I didn't want to learn to knit cables as it looked intimidating, and so many people replied with encouragement and advice! So I gave it a go, and here is my first attempt at a cable! It was very satisfying to do! Thanks everyone!

I made these purses last year for my English Civil War
#Reenactment
. They are replicas of the Gunnister Purse, found on a bog body from the late 17th Century and show one of the earliest examples of fair isle knitting. ( A little late for my period, but it's a talking point!) 🧶

What I learnt very quickly while knitting my first large colourwork piece is to use stitch markers frequently! This pattern repeats in divisions of 24, so I have a marker every 24 stitches and I can see much quicker if I've made a mistake! 🧶

My money saving tip for 2025 is that instead of buying your coffee from Costa you can book a viewing at a fancy wedding venue, drive half an hour to get there, spend an hour being shown around, and they give you a FREE coffee AND a brownie bite!
