Today’s CoC battle @glenbrookgames.bsky.social v @paulbaldwin.bsky.social was a near replication of the Stationsweg action we fought in The Hartenstein. Took far too few photos as we were jibber-jabbering too much🤦🏻‍♂️ It quickly devolved into a close firefight on the German left flank. #spreadthelard

German right flank is pinned by fire from the White House. They deploy an MMG to take the pressure off-but achieve no hits. The firefight in the centre proves devastating for the Paras who are pinned and have their JL killed. #spreadthelard

Right flanking Germans reach the road but come under fire from a Vickers causing 2 kills. The Senior Leader leads his men into the parkland in support of his right flank. #spreadthelard

German Senior Leader leads his men toward the crossroad objective hugging the parkland fence. Excellent leadership brings the Paras in the hotel back from the brink. Reducing shock and repositioning. #spreadthelard

Devastating fire from the hotel leaves the remaining German team pinned. The Stug has been next to useless as support so far. On the other flank the Paras adopt overwatch in preparation for the assault. #spreadthelard

Germans advance in numbers through the parkland now led by the senior leader. A Stug clanks along the road firing HE at the hotel in support of the assaulting left flank. #spreadthelard

Germans deploy a third Gruppe in the centre by the Opel while they close distance on the hotel with a double phase of movement, losing a man dead to Para sniper fire. #spreadthelard

Germans move up through the parkland on their right flank. While on the left side an exchange of fire between the hotel and allotments puts 2shock on the paras. #spreadthelard

The Paras have JOP’s bottom centre, behind the hotel top right, in the back garden of the house top left and on the crossroads itself. #spreadthelard

Found this chap in The Hartenstein Museum, Oosterbeek, Arnhem. I know he’s not any close relative, but I’m going to research a bit about him on our return.

Then and now at Diekirch Museum, Luxembourg. Over 20 years between these photos‼️ Still a great museum. All changes are improvements as you’d expect.

Just a few of the many excellent displays on show at Museum 44 in La Gleize, Ardennes. Definitely recommend a visit if you get chance.

On the second stage of our little European Roadtrip. Stopped off for a coffee and stretch at Monschau in the German Ardennes en route to Bastogne. Pretty village!

Very sobering end to the Arnhem leg of our European tour. A visit to the war cemetery in Oosterbeek. As always a beautiful English Garden but so very sad. I was particularly affected by the graves of twins killed in the same action on the same day aged only 21 years.
