We’re trying to get the toddler to walk instead of always being in a stroller, and a 1.4 km route took us 1 hour this morning 😆 It was a nice hour where he explored a lot of random things we would’ve never noticed if he didn’t point them out, though, so well spent.

We moved over to Kaohsiung few days ago and I’m really loving it here! 😍

I think the biggest culture shock I’m having in Taiwan is that McDonald’s happy meals don’t come with that house box or toys and it’s just sadness meals

I tried the asparagus juice! It was really interesting. It’s like, refreshing, refreshing, refreshing, refr—— oh god asparagus!!!!!! I’ve never been punched in the face by an asparagus, but I’d imagine this is how it must feel.

Spent an hour recording and re-recording a 1 minute introductory video for “AWS for Non-Engineers” (https://awsfornonengineers.com). I need a new laptop 🥲

So “Japanese Expats in US” Twitter calls “Americanized Sushi” “Suushii (スーシー)” instead of “Sushi (寿司),” using the alphabet for “foreign words” (yes, we have a whole alphabet for foreign words). Anyways, all that to say, here’s my suushii dinner.

Anyone else here raising (or trying to raise) kid(s) multi-lingually? Though I’m bilingual, I don’t have much faith in helping my baby become multi-lingual… Would love to connect with other multi-lingual households to hear tips and tricks 🫣 We are Japanese, English, and Mandarin (Taiwan) household.

It’s interesting that there’s still an inclination to include “native English speaker” in a job description. It would filter out a lot of qualified candidates. I, for one, wouldn’t apply, since I’m not a native English speaker 🤷‍♀️ And I make my living writing/speaking English.
