At the Women's Bar Association event last night to honor Federal Defender Tara Allen. Tara talked defending constitutional rights, how hard it can be when the government is bent on ignoring the constitution, and the necessity of doing it - especially in times like these.

My heart goes out to the two Guardsman who were shot yesterday and their families. I’m hopeful that they recover. Their sacrifice in the line of duty will not be forgotten

I'm astounded that the feds are balking at paying for food for hungry families, elders, and kids. I'm grateful to the AG's who are fighting in court to free up this money. Last weekend we had the Warren Walkabout on a beautiful day. Very grateful to the RI Secretary of State who brought one of our copies of the Declaration of Independence for everyone to see. The Declaration of is cool but the letter from John Quincy Adams that came with it is pretty awesome too.

Moms Demand Action volunteers have been working with Rhode Island lawmakers for months to ban the sale of assault weapons. Tonight, a ban FINALLY passed the state legislature! This morning I attended the Vietnam Memorial Service in Warren. We remember those who gave their lives in defending our nation, especially the four men from Warren who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.

I just heard the news of the passing of Senate President Dominick Ruggerio. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, his constituents, and his colleagues. May his memory be a blessing.

One of the nice things about the RI court system is that it's small enough that the personal touch still matters. Managed to avoid an unnecessary court appearance tomorrow by talking to the clerks worked some magic. In the larger system that would be near impossible.

RI has serious problems executing policy. This is just the latest example. Be it pallet shelters, bridges, UHIP’s, or whatever, I’m often wondering why nobody can explain delays and lack of progress. We need to up our management game.
