We Trained People to Be Replaceable — Now It’s Time to Rethink Human Intelligence

It's been 37 years since the June 1989 Tiananmen Massacre, when countless peaceful pro-democracy protesters were killed in Beijing. To this day, the Chinese government has failed to accept responsibility for its crimes. Learn more:

On June 4 this year, as every year, I think back to that terrible night in 1989 when I watched China's army fire on the crowd that I was in and massacre unarmed protesters. I'll never forget the courage I saw that night, as well as the cruelty.

The most interesting question some folks asked me at
#CHI2026
was: "did you not do a video with all the lab's paper this year?" Indeed, given the chairing work, I wasn't able too, but the enthusiasm of these folks helped me do it now 🙏! Here you go:

My university informed me today than on our website we can not place active links to external sites as thats a (unspecified) threat. We decided to not ask if that affects publication links like doi, social media embedding or partner lab links.
