I had a fantastic time visiting Minehead Lifeboat Station yesterday for Minehead Lifeboat Day. Most are volunteers, training every week and ready to drop everything when someone needs help. It was nice to see the crew were in good voice too.

82 years ago today, British forces landed on the beaches of Normandy in the largest seaborne invasion ever attempted. Thousands of brave men and boys didn't come home. From those beaches, their sacrifice began the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi occupation. Lest we forget.

Shop owners in Tiverton and Minehead tell me every week how tough things are right now. Rising energy bills, national insurance, business rates, and the cost of hiring young people over the summer are all making it harder for them to stay afloat.

This week is Dementia Action Week.💜 Over the past month, a member of my team has been speaking to local groups, projects, and businesses, putting together a report on what more can be done to support dementia patients and carers in Tiverton and Minehead.

This weekend, I was out with the Somerset Trail Riders Fellowship for the Jubilee Long Distance Trail. 🏍️ It was brilliant to see riders from all over the country enjoying Exmoor, using public rights of way and special routes the TRF had worked hard to open up.

A really special evening last Monday at the Carlton Club for the Sir David Amess Children's Parliament UK Voices of the Future Dinner. It was a privilege to be at the fundraiser in memory of Sir David, whose vision of giving children a voice in democracy lives on through this organisation.

🌽I had a really interesting visit earlier this week, meeting Andrew at Backswood Farm. It was encouraging to hear about his ongoing efforts to educate future generations, inviting schools to visit and learn about farming and his work to protect the local wildlife on the farm.
