I've been thinking about art plans for 2026. I basically spent all of 2025 practicing a new manga art style, and I'm still not very confident in my ability to, say, make a serialized manga. But I think this is the year I start putting pages together and focusing on storytelling.

Some more casual practice with shading and whatnot You know what other anime I'm actually really excited for is season 2 of "Tis torture time, Princess". Hilariously wholesome despite the name and just chill vibes all around. The character designs are adorable too it's such a good time.

More magical girl monster practice. I really like that one sweets witch from Madoka so I figured I'd start with a cake theme and go from there. I'm still not sure what my style of monster design is but I find that I really like oversized stuff, with the huge cake and the huge utensils.

Experimenting with some actual magical girl monsters now, sticking to the flower theme. Since it's meant to be Madoka-like I've gone for a large witch-like monster and a bunch of smaller flower familiars. I'm not used to designing monsters but they should be a little unsettling, I think.

Fell off my art practice pretty hard for a while but I'm trying to pick up where I left off with my magical girl practice. Since the concept is very Madoka I had to try designing witch-like monsters that live in surreal fantasy domains. The first attempt is kind of a flower themed domain. #mangaart

Had a real unproductive couple od weeks cuz I was on vacation and then got sick and still recovering. But on the bright side I started the Uma Musume game. And like. I'm starting to get it, man. Dem horse girls, man.

Another shot of the parking garage setting. I like abandoned buildings as set pieces for hidden magical girl shows cuz it's a good place to have magical stuff happen without civilians. Since the concept is Madoka esq this would be a common setting where witch portals show up.

Had some slow weeks but still getting some background practice in. Part of my story concept happens in an abandoned garage so I spent some time looking at garages. Not much is happening here but I tell you figuring out the fish eye lens in clipstudio was a struggle.

On the topic of manga backgrounds, I've been studying Akira lately and the backgrounds are actually so detailed that it's intimidating me as an artist. It's too good for me to learn from I dunno where to begin?! I'm pretty sure these were done on paper too I'm scared

I think if I went back to fan art (especially Splatoon) I'd go back to Twitter where my views are higher. Thankfully I don't need to promote my OC work yet so I can avoid that site. I hope that Twitter implodes by then so we can all collectively decide to hang out on a less shitty platform~

More background practice, this is the interior of Claudia's shop. The layout is kind of a simple box but it's taking all my energy even to do this much detail 🥲 I like the idea of a little staircase going up to her upstairs apartment but I dunno if it makes sense. Its also a pain to draw
