WTF did I just read? Ronin 2, it's not good. Incoherent ramblings for dialogue, almost every page is a splash page, what is happening? Who are all these characters? Why was this made?

Caught up with Lazarus: Risen from
@ruckawriter.bsky.social
and Michael Lark, gorgeous as usual, story wise it gave us some interesting back story and a few twists, also setup for a interesting next arc. I did like the longer format and need more.

Also just completed reading Miracleman, Moore issues then
@neilhimself.neilgaiman.com
issues, finished off with Apocrypha. Can see some of the seeds of ideas for Dr Manhattan in Watchmen in Moore's run. Golden Age from Gaiman gave some texture to the world but felt a little scattered.

On to the Moorathon, read League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: The Tempest, think I need to reread the prior chapters to better enjoy this one, felt a bit impenetrable.

bit late but read through Primordial again by Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino, loved the art as usual story felt like it wasn't quite complete for me sadly, not sure I got the point.

The Lemire marathon continues, finished up Descender and Ascender, enjoyed the art from Dustin Nguyen, for the story, enjoyable and it was a pretty rapid read, perhaps the pace was a bit too fast in spots.

Black Hammer Art! Love Dean Ormston's styling in the main series, Tyler Crook on the Unteens was refreshing, Tonci Zonjic was a highlight in Skulldigger, i dug his work on Lobster Johnson.

Finished up phase 2 (so far) of Black Hammer, Reborn felt like a worthy continuation of the main series, Skulldigger and the Unteens were hits as side stories, Barbalien was also decent. Visions was a nice look at a range of characters. Colonel Weird may have been the weakest imho, but still good.

Sherlock Frankenstein was one of the better ones, Quantum Age was ok, perhaps it will feel more important after I have read phase 2? The JL crossover I could take or leave tbh. Dr Star/Andromeda was an interesting/tragic read too.

Working through reading the fantastic Black Hammer series's atm, phase 1 done and dusted. Loved the first series, Age of Doom was solid. As for the spinoffs they do add a fair bit of world building, some were a little hit and miss for me but they get nods later in the various series's which is cool.

Read Ducks from Kate Beaton last week, it's brilliant, and awful sometimes at the same time. Masterful storytelling of some pretty traumatic events.

Femme Magnifique was the read of the last few days (I am so behind on reading), a fascinating compilation of shorts on the lives of some notable women, great talent for the creatives and an interesting selection of women profiled.

's Fast Times in Comic Editing, what a great nostalgic jaunt through the early days of Vertigo (and earlier).

Reckless vol 1 another masterpiece from the dynamic duo Ed Brubaker and
@seanphillips.bsky.social
had a very cinematic feel to it, solid story with subtle notes of Memento and Payback, and of course impeccable art. Looks forward to more of this series.

Finished up the first TPB of Dean Motter's Mister X vol 1, still need to find vol 2, it was an interesting and mildly surreal read. Great artwork by Los Bros Hernandez. Overall I probably prefer Terminal City but a worthwhile read nonetheless.

Last (two) night's read, JLA Earth 2, it was ok, it didn't seem to click with me, probably need to be more of DC fan to appreciate it more.
