As we enter into the new year, we are thinking a lot about what “protect the press” means. The obvious is PPE, training, education, safety advisors. Not so obvious: uplifting each other online. Sharing stories about our amazing colleagues while they are still alive. Not tearing each other down.

No journalist should have to be taken away from an assignment on a gurney. This is the second such recent incident we’ve seen wherein the photographer has been covering immigration enforcement actions & is injured & taken away by EMS. Wishing @keremyucel.bsky.social a full and swift recovery.

Update: Appeals court Wednesday suspends preliminary injunction won by Chicago journalists and press groups that restricted federal agents’ violent tactics at immigration protests there; judges call injunction “overbroad,” put it on hold while government appeals.
