I feel really tired, I had a great year last year. This year I worked twice as hard and it's a worse year. Artistically I feel I'm doing so much better, but at the end of the day there's metrics that absolutely do make an impact. Some stuff is out of my control but others are mistakes/sacrifices.

I think something important to remember about the whole Epstein and co. thing is the reason their crimes went on for so long isn't because of a hush hush secret conspiracy, but because the abuse of young women is essential to the concept of a successful man living in luxury our society glamorizes.

Dashcon 2 is what a con should be. No voyeurs, just the most hardcore unhinged neurodivergent people in the immediate area screaming in costumes being free of the outside world.

the labor of art is mostly invisible. what you don't see in a finished piece is all the hours of thought it required, all the little discoveries and surprises and tragedies of production. art IS the process. if you aren't interested in the process, then i don't really know why you want to be artist

Don't get me wrong, I also have anti-art school takes all jaded alumnis have, but it really saddens people how many people evaluate the importance of knowledge on it's ability to be subverted into service of capitalism. I learned some 'useless' things but were also important thoughts I treasure.

Gonna attempt another social media detox tomorrow so I can overcome my addiction long enough to complete THE project because at this point I've told so many people about it I'll be professionally embarrassed if I don't deliver.

This is sappy but um... There's always a limit to how many opportunities one can create for oneself and I'm always humbled by how many people have cracked open doors for me, fellow creatives and art directors that believed in me, followers and people who share my work in their discord servers.

Maybe I should try hosting a panel at cons. I started attending panels again last year and it was really fun to do something other than sit behind a table trying to figure out if numbers are up or down.
