We love talking about Yerba Buena Gardens. It's a pleasant surprise when other platforms are down that we still have Bluesky to share our message (which is to get outside and enjoy your local park!)

In the 1960s when they first proposed redevelopment of the blocks where Yerba Buena Gardens now sits, they wanted to include a sports stadium! Can you imagine?

Yerba Buena was one of the original names for San Francisco. There’s a plant that used to be abundant here called Yerba Buena. The question is: Does Yerba Buena (Micromeria douglasii) grow at Yerba Buena Gardens? Yes! We installed a new CA Native Garden in 2024 that includes this special plant.

Did you know our redwoods are planted in just 3-6 feet? We’re on the Moscone Convention Center’s roof, making us one of the first and largest rooftop gardens 👀 This Saturday, November 30th, we’re hosting our first ever tree lighting ceremony at 6pm and it’s free. Come by and spread the cheer!
