It's a dreadful world in many places and for many reasons. And sometimes, I'll be honest, I come close to losing hope. Then I look at this peaceful view and it calms me. Or anaesthetises me. I certainly feel better for it, if only for a while. Night, all.

I found historian Roger Morehouse in a pub in Piccadilly this evening. Honestly, you can't go anywhere for a quiet drink these days.

My father died in the sea in Sardinia #OTD in 1974. I was with him and just survived the undercurrent. He was 58, I was 16. I've missed him every day since. I miss the conversations we never had. The moments we never shared. And I will remember him until the day I too die.

Fancy Monty's motor? His 1936 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Touring Limousine is up for auction. HM King George VI, Winston Churchill and General Eisenhower were all driven in this car. Estimated sale price: £115,000 - £130,000. I've bought a lottery ticket!

Great example for a health behavior where people will be like “everybody does X, it’s never going to change” until it actually does change within a rather short time span, from a historic perspective.

Killed in Action 80 Years Ago: Major General Maurice Rose, killed in Germany on March 30, 1945. Rose is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial at Limburg, Netherlands. He was 49 years old and was the highest ranking US officer KIA in Europe in #WW2.
