Jupiter is in opposition right now! If it’s clear where you’re at, check it with a telescope, binoculars, or even your naked eye! It should be easy to pick out and much brighter than the stars around it.

I built a new PC at the of the year using parts from Black Friday sales. It’s much better than my old one. Only problem is I lost a lot of my streaming assets and my entire setup. I can try to reconfigure everything and recover my files but it’s going to be a struggle..

My mount has now developed a quirk where it will shut down during meridian flips… I’m not sure if it’s due to a loose cable or or a power problem but a quick browse says this isn’t uncommon for the AM5 to develop.

I photographed the Pleiades star cluster last night. I was able to get much more of the dust surrounding the stars this year. This cluster is easily visible to the naked eye even in light-polluted areas, and looks fantastic through a pair of binoculars. #astrophotography #astronomy #photography

The new rig has been nice. I did find the scope was a bit too heavy for the am5 without a counter weight though. Probably gonna go to an off axis guider at some point.

After putting away my rig for the night, I grabbed a pair of binoculars to quickly look at the Orion Nebula and Jupiter rising in the east. If you have a pair, I highly recommend doing the same! They’re super easy to find and won’t disappoint, even with light pollution.

Full moon, cloudy weather, and broken scope have been delaying things. I want to get a new refractor to replace the broken one, but I’m not sure which focal length to commit to just yet. I was thinking around 500mm, but I’d like input if anyone has any.

I’ve been playing the Hades II beta since the first release, & it’s been amazing experience. @supergiantgames.bsky.social did a fantastic job. I do hope in the full release once you beat Chronos, you then have to fight Zagreus or battle with him to escape a doubly powerful underworld.
