In other news, I'm finally going to have my own place: no more parking lot photos. The only bad part is its surrounded by very tall trees so my patch of sky just got significantly smaller.

I built a new PC at the of the year using parts from Black Friday sales. It’s much better than my old one. Only problem is I lost a lot of my streaming assets and my entire setup. I can try to reconfigure everything and recover my files but it’s going to be a struggle..

My mount has now developed a quirk where it will shut down during meridian flips… I’m not sure if it’s due to a loose cable or or a power problem but a quick browse says this isn’t uncommon for the AM5 to develop.

I photographed the Pleiades star cluster last night. I was able to get much more of the dust surrounding the stars this year. This cluster is easily visible to the naked eye even in light-polluted areas, and looks fantastic through a pair of binoculars. #astrophotography #astronomy #photography

The new rig has been nice. I did find the scope was a bit too heavy for the am5 without a counter weight though. Probably gonna go to an off axis guider at some point.

Cottage loaf. Delicious and easy to make, although I burned my hand on the pan. Mary Berry recipes never fail.

After putting away my rig for the night, I grabbed a pair of binoculars to quickly look at the Orion Nebula and Jupiter rising in the east. If you have a pair, I highly recommend doing the same! They’re super easy to find and won’t disappoint, even with light pollution.
