Today was a win for transparency and fairness for Calgary's taxpayers. Members of the Executive Committee unanimously voted in favour of my Notice of Motion, which would increase transparency around the costs that Calgarians are covering for areas of provincial responsibility.

Today me and my team had the opportunity to visit the 7-Eleven Distribution Centre here in Ward 4 at the Greenview Industrial Park. I got to see first-hand how dedicated employees, many of whom have worked here for 30 years, are growing the economy and serving customers through logistics.

Hey, neighbour! I was disappointed by the 2026 provincial budget. We saw a 21% increase in the provincial portion of property taxes. I'm introducing a motion on Tuesday that will create an annual report on the gap between City costs and provincial reimbursements for shared responsibilities.

Today was the opening of the North Hill Calgary Co-op which replaces the one built in 1960. It was personal for me because this is my family's Co-op. It is our pantry and it is also where we see our neighbours. I look forward to seeing this new location serve Calgarians for the next 65 years.

Today the City of Calgary announced that the planned spring shutdown of the Bearspaw Water Main would happen on March 9. As a result there will be four weeks of water restriction as six segments of pipe are reinforced. Regular updates will be provided on calgary.ca.

Two more preventible deaths on our city roads have left me heartbroken for those families. This traffic safety crisis is ours to solve. Every death is preventable. Please slow down. Put away the phone. Watch for pedestrians. No destination is worth a life. Let's make Vision Zero real for Calgary.

Hey, neighbour! I had a great time attending the Beddington Heights Winter Carnival with my Ward 4 staff. We loved giving out candy, Calgary Fire Department colouring books, and lots of City of Calgary information to neighbours on Family Day.

Yesterday, Cllr. Chabot and I joined our City of Calgary colleagues at the Manchester fleet and inventory buildings to learn about these essential City services. I was pleased to see partnerships and innovation (they've even created a few patents) are delivering efficient services to Calgarians.

I was happy to invite former Ward 4 alderman Bob Hawkesworth back to his old office after meeting with the Calgary Alliance for the Common Good. It was great to reminisce about how even though council has changed–as has the furniture–we both serve the neighbours of Ward 4.

Today I am wearing a green square in remembrance of the members of Quebec’s Muslim community who were murdered in the 2017 attack at the Islamic Cultural Centre of Quebec City. I was pleased to join my council colleagues to be part of the official day of remembrance today.

One of the committees I knew I had to lead after being elected to council was Calgary Salutes. Public service, to me, means stepping forward, helping others and taking responsibility for the community you belong to—something the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces do every day.

Hey, Neighbour! Today I asked City administration for an update on the ongoing lawsuit regarding the old Highland Park Golf Course and am pleased to hear that Council will be receiving more information soon on that lawsuit as it makes it's way through the Court of King's Bench.

The repairs on the Bearspaw Feeder Main are complete, and water is once again flowing through the main to Calgarians. As of 1 p.m. today all water restrictions are lifted. Operations at our aquatic centres and arenas will return to normal. Thank you neighbours for saving water.

I was happy to visit the ongoing construction of the new Glenbow at the J.R. Shaw Centre for Arts and Culture, on Monday afternoon. Seeing firsthand the hard work that has gone into creating Calgary’s next great cultural hub was inspiring.

On Jan. 11, our water use was 505 ML, putting us in the unsustainable zone. We still need your help to save water. Keep taking action like skipping flushes, washing full loads only and limiting showers to 3 minutes.

I ask the question of how serious should council be taking the third party review of Calgary's water system, and the independent panel agrees it's a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. This is why we as a council can't pass the buck. We need to fix this for Calgarians.

Yesterday, Calgarians consumed 510 Megalitres of water, exceeding the sustainable limit of 485 Megalitres per day. To prevent depleting reserves crucial for firefighting, cut shower times to under 3 minutes, flush toilets sparingly, and only run full loads of laundry and dishes.

Hey Neighbour! It’s the first regular day back at City Hall for 2026, and the agenda is packed: save water to build reserves for firefighting, review the 2024 water‑crisis report, reply to messages from neighbours, plan council priorities for the next four years, and attend community meetings.

One eastbound lane of 16 Ave is now open, The boil water advisory has ended, and The broken pipe is out of the ground! A good day, but we still need to continue conserving water, and get a new pipe segment installed, tested, etc.
