Basic income is just using existing money in the economy more efficiently.

This has pretty much been set to rest. No basic income study has found a meaningful drop in work, beyond students and new parents (that's good). In fact, it boosts employment and education by giving people freedom to think long-term and invest in their careers.

This might just be the biggest economic injustice of all.

Basic income addresses the root causes of crime. It reduces violence and drug/alcohol use.

Let's be honest, a guaranteed basic income isn't really a net cost — it's net savings.

Even with a basic income, working class people will *always* be trying to outrun the cost of living — no matter how productive we get. That's why we'll never solve poverty unless we tax and broadly share the rent of land.

"Should we plan for the impact of AI to prevent another four decades lost for middle earners?" Automation is hollowing out the middle and polarizing the job market. It's why we should pay workers dividends from the proceeds of AI.

Our Housing Minister may not say it, but Canadians know it. "It’s basic common sense: for homes to become affordable again, prices must come down... Waiting for wages to catch up would be a decades-long endeavour, permanently shutting multiple generations out of ownership."
