Join us this Sunday 9/21, from 9 - 2, for our Fall Open House and Native Plant Sale! As experienced gardeners know, the Fall is the best time to plant! The air is cool, but the ground is still warm. We also tend to get greater rainfall, making it much easier for your plants to get established.

This is really relevant to our work seed collecting! We never want to overcollect, but we do need to sometimes get a lot of seed to support local restoratio . We will be incorporating this research into our practices in collaboration with local ecologists.

The Earth Sangha has been chosen (again!) As a "critical & trusted non-profit" by Spur Local (formerly the Catalogue of Philanthropy). We underwent a rigorous financial and programmatic review by professionals, volunteers, and peer non-profit reviewers. This is our 5th, 4-year term being included!

This was at Marie Butler Leven Preserve this morning. Big shoutout to our volunteers helping us remove this invasive annual vine and allow our donated trees and shrubs to reach maturity! This one here in its deer cage is an arrowwood viburnum (Viburnum dentatum).

Mom M did fieldwork without me today! But she got some cool pictures so I guess it’s okay. There’s a bumble bee on a Carolina Rose, a Box Turtle gorging on native blackberries, a vine related to milkweeds, and mating zebra swallowtail butterflies! #barkranger

A couple less common milkweeds blooming at our Wild Plant Nursery. We're holding these back for restoration on public lands. Left is purple milkweed, state rare, of wet meadows. Right is butterfly weed, locally uncommom because of degraded and fragmented meadow habitat. #nativeplants

We might have let these Baptisia tinctoria go a little too long. Whoops! Repotting now! Hopefully these can go out to dry meadow habitat soon! #nativeplants

= WEED IT WEDNESDAY = Youngia japonica (Asiatic False Hawksbeard) When the soil is moist, PRISM volunteer Mike Wenger uses a fork to remove the "babies" before they flower. He used to have a bunch on his lawn. Mike says "In two years, nearly gone!" Works best when dealing with a small area.
