When specific groups are not adequately represented in medical research it creates evidence gaps which may persist in the data used to build AI and cause harm in the future.

This type of inequality feeds through into the datasets used to inform service planning, research and AI tools - the implications may be are far reaching, beyond the individual women let down by these guidelines.
