Such a cool detail that the onomatopoeia for the glass breaking also looks like glass breaking! Even the shading of the wall behind the onomatopoeia seems to be shattering.

at first I thought you had some sort of whimsical power but now I'm realizing that hello from halo head is actually based on your ability to make animals feel indifferent but accepting toward you. which is still sort of whimsical

one small good thing today: i managed to find an email address for this author and sent a message on a whim. he got back to me, he is turning 73, and he recently retired from being a yoga teacher. and he told me he was excited about the election results. someday ill be a cool old person too....

:/ unfortunately making another tech support post. just upgraded to storyboard pro 22 from a much older version and encountering a bizarre issue i didn't have in the older. for specific tools (Cutter, Paint, Select By Color), at specific times/places (???) the cursor gets stuck on clicked-down mode

Good lord these stairs. The colors are so juicy? Vibrant even. And they’re jumping off the page at you. Feels like they’re hyper exaggerated in prominence to show what a massive weight the very concept of stairs are to Pepper now,

The way that the stairs fade into those lighter blues in panel 3 matches really nicely with Pepper's POV in this moment; he's trying to ground himself and finally take his own steps, and in return, his stairs, while still feeling kinda otherworldly, appear less threatening than usual.

Oouugh those are some DELICIOUS looking stairs, holy shit. The things you do with colors continue to blow me away. Also, I love Mars up there in her own little world, pondering how the hell to deal with the broken window pane while Pepper's about to be on the verge of shattering like glass himself.

lately for some reason this kids' chapter book i read off a random shelf in elementary school keeps resurfacing in my mind. i remembered it as a bizarrely dark story of two 11 year olds trying to overcome intense self-loathing and the desire to cease existing. found a google books preview and yeah

going off on a more specific tangent for a sec, i don't think dispensing with tight story logic always NEEDS to be justified by thematic elements, but in both these movies, it is. both feel explicitly ABOUT how confusing and illogical "normal adult life" often is.

thinking about this again fresh off rewatching edward scissorhands and beetlejuice. what great movies. all the tim burton films from that era have absolutely no interest in logical lore, just a central concept so compelling that you don't care. it makes you want to believe.

speaking of mimikyu i have a mimikyu plush that was designed and sewn by my friend Firtive. it is my special baby and is enormous. the one he gave me is actually the protoype, the one he kept for himself is even better. that's why he is in charge of all plush decisions

I love that Pepper's memory has the basic elements down, Peachy being there, the gist of what Chloe said, but it's very subtly different, in their looks and actions, like Pepper's memory has shifted. (In the actual panel Peachy had already flown off and Chloe's exact words were a little different)
