Wounded Knee is a dark stain upon our nationās history. We must remember it for what it truly was, not for what white nationalists would have it be.

It is true, their place in history is settled. And Pete cannot rewrite it. Neither can any number of medals.

š§µ It's not as lyrical as "At the far end of the Trail of Tears was a promise" but damn if I didn't smile when I read "because this is what Mvskoke law demands." Today is an historic day. The Mvskoke Nation Supreme Court has ruled that the Nation must abide by the promises our ancestors made

Trump wants the Washington Football team to bring back their old name: Rāskins, a dictionary-defined racial slur. Research shows racist mascots harm Native youthās self-esteem & mental health. What the research also found is that it makes white feel better about being white. š§µ

The Exec brought up the idea of bringing back racist sports names because non-Natives have an idea that they have say on our identities. The answer should be "no" instead of endless rehashing of the same convos from 10 years ago, 20 years ago. Call Native Nations what they call themselves & move on.

This is bad, but like, the quote, "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it" exists, as does the Dakota 38. Like the list is so long for the illegal war crimes of US presidents. We can condemn trump's dumbassery and violence without pretending the past was golden.

The literal least you could do. This is stolen land from Native people (Thanks Teddy Roosevelt). You have an OBLIGATION not only to stop its sale and destruction, but to return it to its faithful stewards before it is too late. And it almost is. Please take responsibility. This is your home too.

Jonathan Joss' death is a tragedy. John Redcorn was the only representation I had as a kid. I once even did a recording with him and he's now the 2nd Native man Iāve known that has died from gun violence this year. The other being my dad. Natives are the most likely to be victims of violent crimes.

(1/2) Why use 2SLGBTQ? Some folks are advocating to put 2S (Two Spirit) at the beginning of the LGBTQ acronym. Why? Putting it first recognizes that Indigenous nations are the first peoples of this land. It also pushes back against the primary form of anti-Indigenous racism: erasure.

(1/4) Can I be Two Spirit? If you are not Native American, you cannot be 2S. Before the term was created, anthropologists used a Prussian word that also meant male prostitute to describe 2S people in academic work. To remove the derogatory Western lens, Native LGBTQ people created our own term.

Liberal SCOTUS justices refusing to allow Apache Strongholdās appeal to prevent the destruction of sacred Oak Flat just drives home the contempt that settlers and their institutions have for Native people, cultures and religions.
