One thing we factor into our snow forecasts are "snow ratios". Warmer temps often correspond to wetter, heavier snow to shovel... but in Saturday's case, temps around 18-20° will lead to very powdery flakes in Ohio, or a 20:1 snow ratio. Easy to shovel, not as easy to make a snowman!

We're still fine-tuning that light snow forecast for Saturday afternoon/evening... our southern counties are still most likely to get 1-2" of flakes adding up over several hours, with higher totals toward Indianapolis and Cincinnati.

Major flooding is underway in parts of the Pacific Northwest. An "atmospheric river" (moisture plume) continues to dig a few states inland, with water rescues and evacuations in Washington -- and reports of collapsed bridges in Idaho/Montana.

Getting reports of black ice forming on some surfaces out there at this hour, as temperatures slowly fall below freezing. Meteorologist Derek Witt has a great explainer on it earlier this week... walk with caution tonight/Thursday AM.

RADAR: Light drizzle is converting back to some flurries this late afternoon, pushing southeast. With temps cooling near 20° by dawn, patchy black ice is possible -- though widespread problems are unlikely on the roads, given that the wind is already wicking away much of that moisture.

We picked up 1.3" of snow at Toledo Express with that thin but potent Tuesday AM band, bringing us into double digits on the season so far. It took us until mid-February to do so last winter... and we're already beating 2023-24's 9.6" for the entire season!

Higher elevations of Hillsdale/Lenawee County could push 2"+ of slushy accumulation this late Tuesday evening, though that wet snow is less likely to stick in our Ohio counties -- and most of it will melt away as rain and temps in the mid-30s push through.
