Two weeks ago, the 15th Congress of the Latin American Chapter of the Society for Psychotherapy Research (@sprofficial.bsky.social) took place in Lima, Peru 🇵🇪 Along with my supervisor, Marcos Herrera, and a group of colleagues, we organized and facilitated a workshop on #EMCA & psychotherapy!

An #EMCA -related question: Would you treat responses to personal state inquiries / howareyou's (such as "Fine", "Lousy" or "Great!") as "assessments" or not? How can they be best called? And what are the analytical/emic reasons for that? DM or replies are welcome! :)

👁️‍🗨️ Secuenciando is officially opening its 3rd season: "Designing turns, constructing actions". This season's theme is turn design, covering diverse aspects of that area. We will have data sessions in Spanish with current data from Peru's general election and its presidential debates. #EMCA

💬 How we work: We work through 'seasons' of regular readings and meetings. Each one lasts an academic term. Seasons are themed, covering a specific topic or area of #EMCA inquiry. In the first two, we introduced CA and explored sequence organization. In April, a new, third season starts!

💬 Who we are: Secuenciando is a study group that holds weekly data sessions 🔎 and discussions of #EMCA literature. 📚 Data and discussions are in Spanish, and schedules usually follow South American time zones. Entirely student-led, and mainly composed of undergraduate & graduate students. 🙌

Secuenciando just got its own BlueSky account! Now, on this page, we will continue sharing updates on our study group — one devoted to learning, developing, and promoting conversation analysis locally in Peru 🇵🇪 and South America 🌎. #EMCA

Perhaps one of the most interesting #EMCA papers I have ever read. Schegloff's "On some questions and ambiguities in conversation" (1984). Are interrogative forms the ultimate basis for hearing an utterance as doing questioning? What is the role of language in making actions recognizable as such?

This year we launched an #EMCA study group in Peru 🇵🇪, mainly composed of undergraduate students, called Secuenciando. As the year comes to an end, Secuenciando has officially wrapped up its second season — this time focused on sequence organization! (1/3)

Yesterday the “CA & Healthcare Interactions” workshop came to a close! These two full days were packed with fascinating lectures and stimulating hands-on exercises, and they were absolutely worth it, even with the sleep schedule adjustments and the 3 a.m. wake-ups! Hi everyone! My name’s Belen and I’m a Linguistics Student at PUCP 📍🇵🇪 With some dear friends and colleagues, we created an interdisciplinary group in which we study #ConversationAnalysis (AC), called “Secuenciando”. We started last term and we’re really proud of the work we’ve done so far :)

Dear #EMCA community, I'm very happy to announce the foundation of a small study group devoted to Conversation Analysis in Peru, composed primarily of undergraduate and graduate students eager to understand the technicalities of naturally occurring social interaction.

Phew! Knackered after another intense CA for Beginners workshop with the @darg-sessions.bsky.social crew. As ever, it was highly enjoyable and gratifying working with students beginning to find their feet in CA. They put us through our paces with tough queries & arguments - great stuff.
