More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story

The Navy told me the ocean keeps eating their fighter jets so I asked how many fighter jets the navy has and they said they just go to the fighter jet store to get a new fighter jets afterwards so I said it sounds like they’re just feeding fighter jets to the ocean and then the Navy started crying.

Ea-nāṣir is the recipient of the world’s oldest complaint letter. He’s reportedly the worst businessman of the 18th century, a mediocre conman whose actions should have him put out of business. Is this fair? Here’s a thread on the most up-to-date research on this captivating figure.

over the course of nearly ten years, we've logged every fatal shooting by a US police officer in the line of duty. we did it one at a time, day after day, updating info as we could. we've now logged more than 10,000. i can't tell you how proud i am of all the folks who worked on this over the years.

The intro you wrote for Aspects by Mike Ford primed me for reading that book in a particular mindset, and that book has stuck with me for months since in a way no other book has, and I’ve read several of his other books since. Thanks for introducing me to his work.
