Resting in the shadows of high rises, hydro corridors, and mulberry trees—not far from his home in Hamilton’s Rosedale—Ernest returned from war in 1945, suffering poor health until his death at age 34 in the old Gage Ave military hospital. I hope he found some joy after the war.
