Today, the SG of the Agency for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean #OPANAL held a meeting with the SG of the Organization of American States #OAS, exchanging views on the shared goals of both organizations and exploring ways to strengthen collaboration.

Meet the new Secretary-General of OPANAL⤵️ Ambassador Juan Carlos Ojeda Viglione assumed office as Secretary-General of OPANAL on 1 January 2026, following his election by acclamation at the XXIX Special Session of the General Conference (19 Dec 2025), in accordance with resolution CG/E/Res.03/2025.

🔹 El día de ayer se realizó la 363ª Reunión del Consejo del OPANAL bajo la Presidencia de la República Dominicana 🇩🇴 . Conforme a la práctica, este órgano sesionó en formato abierto a toda la Membresía, propiciando así un diálogo amplio e inclusivo entre los Estados Parte del Tratado de Tlatelolco.

Durante los meses de abril y mayo de 2026, la Presidencia del Consejo corresponde a la República Dominicana 🇩🇴, cuya representación presidirá la 363ª reunión de este órgano. De cara a dicho encuentro, la Presidencia en turno sostuvo hoy una reunión de coordinación con el Secretario General.

Recibimos en la Secretaría del OPANAL a Minoru Gutiérrez quien hizo entrega de una impresión del "Mural de la amistad México-Hiroshima: Por un mundo sin armas nucleares", elaborado por Adry del Rocío y Carlos Alberto GH, en el Aeropuerto de Hiroshima.
