like MetaHuman but StyleGAN + Gaussian Splatting. it has the quirks of StyleGAN (asymmetrical / melty features) only renders half the model but it's precise (hairs & thin features) & provides a solid latent inversion and some tricks to improve the GS model. project:

this will sound like a bold move but since I can't use DMs, I'll give it a shot: hello, if you happen to live near Paris, I'd really like to meet you (professionally). I don't come back often to Paris and there's a "gathering" on the 19, 20 & 21st of may, this would be a good opportunity.

the more I work with video generation (2 days...), the better I understand why - most of the time - generated videos show people posing and not doing shit. it's sufficient for advertising and pseudo trailers I guess but actually doing something with video generation takes a vicious amount of effort

skeletons are tricky as fuck, wasted a day trying out various methods. most libs are not maintained or don't produce useful results, or only work on watertight meshes .... I ended up with a handmade voxel approach & have to simplify & vectorize the graph which is exactly what I wanted to avoid :/

unsurprisingly Mv-DUSt3R (
github.com/facebookrese...
) does not like 'turntable' footage and prefers continuous sequences. it can't replace - say - TRELLIS to convert few shots of an object into a 3D model. it's fast though, not sure how to prune discretize the result ( nice debug views too ^^)

TRELLIS works especially well on mechanical objects. in this case it made the mesh roughly symmetrical and fixed a missing leg. all the components are disjoint 'patches' scattered all over the mesh, disregarding the topology. I wonder how useful this can be for 3D artists, maybe as static assets?

to learn how to make an Blender add-on, I made a TRELLIS-Blender bridge. Blender is a powerful tool and not so horrible once you give up all hope and go with the (stack over)flow. wish I could explore further :) the add-on available here

Genesis (not the band) is a "looks good but what's the point & who's the audience exactly" kind of library. if the "LLM to 4D world" promise is dubious, the tech debt is very real and simply abysmal, see
