Species Spotlight: White Spirea (Spiraea betulifolia) White spirea is a short deciduous shrub species that grows to 1m tall. It is highly effective in controlling erosion and stabilizing shorelines, and is particularly beneficial for pollinator species. Learn more here: https://shorturl.at/gbmnI

Ever wondered what to do with leftover pumpkins?  1) Remove any craft materials or candle wax.  2) Cut it up or smash the pumpkin.  3) Remove the seeds and mix the bits into your composter or green bin. The pumpkin will break down to create a nutrient-rich compost!

Species Spotlight: Walleye (Sander vitreus) Walleye is a freshwater fish in the perch family (Perca) that is very popular among anglers. Walleye are long and thin fish with gold to olive scales and a white underbelly. They prefer colder waters, often found in the depths of lakes and rivers.

Watersheds Canada's partnering with TRACKS Youth Program to create a Nature Discovery Backpack lending library in 2026! Funding from TELUS' TELUS Friendly Future Foundation will provide 200 Indigenous youth with a free immersive program that uses community monitoring technology to connect to nature.
