But this is also why no one should be forced into being a parent, people shouldn't have kids because of societal expectations, & men should not be incentivized to obtain "property" (kids) for patriarchal power. Because the kids suffer.

Never met a person who learned universal compassion from religion. Every religion claims that a failure to follow it makes you morally less-than its believers in some way, at a bare minimum. Religion teaches pity, at best, not compassion. More often it teaches you to fear or disdain nonbelievers.
