My daddy always told me you either command respect through actions, integrity, and achievements or you demand respect through threats or force. If you command request, you're seen as a leader and people will follow you anywhere. If you demand it, all you get is grudging compliance and resentment.

Why are we attacking another country(Venezuela) without Congressional approval. Its almost like the Republicans work for Trump instead of the American people. Like Congress is irrelevant, has no authority.

Every election in 2026 is critical. So is every year and every election to follow. Every one offers a step away from the bottomless pit of Trumpian avarice and toward firmer, stable ground for this nation. As we approach the new year, start planning to step forward—together.

Democratic change doesn’t happen immediately. This isn’t an instant gratification game, and the Vote for Pedro speech isn’t what we need. But we can show where the current path has brought us, and where a better path can take us.

And that, more than ever, is to show people the way policies and politics impact their lives, and lead them toward something that will be better. These midterms won’t fix everything, but flipping the House and Senate—and as many state and local offices held by the GOP—is a start.

The job now for those who care about our neighbors, our communities, and our country is to show it. “I told you so” might feel good in the moment, and is frankly justified. But we need to take this moment to open eyes and minds to what we can do to make it better.

Unfortunately, the destruction this administration and this GOP legislature have wrought is a necessary step toward unraveling the lies. I hate that neighbors are suffering, whether or not they voted for it. But when people want to believe the lie, hearing truth isn’t enough.

Right now, Republican lies serve as the duct tape holding their coalition together and the WD-40 making it keep sliding along their broken tracks. It’s worked for a while now, but it cannot hold for long. Because people can feel the impact this ruling class has on them.

This isn’t a new or unique strategy. But it also suggests something important for the midterms next year. Ohio is absolutely a red state right now, but the GOP doesn’t actually represent conservative values or the interests of working class people. There’s a disconnect.

In 2024, a bipartisan coalition brought a ballot initiative to Ohioans to create a committee that would draw fair districts—something voters overwhelmingly want, and have wanted for years. The GOP defeated it by lying to voters. (Thread) www.statenews.org/government-p...
