Ok, very decidedly NOT obscure literature since a lot of people have read it in grade school, but, if you have the chance, read or reread The Seventh Man by Haruki Murakami. I think about this short story quite a bit despite the relatively simple message.

There is something so alluring about somewhat obscure literature, where the author hasn't done a hundred interviews on what each sentence means. Something that absolutely doesn't have any answers you can know for sure. Everything is up to interpretation.

Experienced something new at 4am. I think its pretty routine or common for some people, but its a first for me.

I put myself in a weird mood. I'm not sure if its like this for everyone, but melancholy themes and music just have such an effect on me. Even if theres nothing profound or new, just the thoughts and sounds pull me. Its not often I get to feel something so strong, so I follow it.

I don't think it would be a stretch to say that reading kind of devolved into unhealthy fantasy for me when I was younger. I think a lot of the issues and weird disconnect I have now stem from almost exclusively feeling and interpreting emotions via characters.

Seriously though. A huge pillar of the EPA's ability to regulate emissions has been destroyed today, and,.. crickets. These are the kinds of things that will have generational and global impact, but no one is talking about them. The lack if interest and furor is really depressing.

I find it bizarre and kind of disappointing that furries don't involve themselves more in conservation fundraising. At the end of the day, the furry fandom is all about the people that are in it, but still; of all fandoms, I had thought furries might be a little less anthropocentric.
